Though it has been scientifically proven that the cause of deaths in Kumasi Academy and other Senior High Schools is due to the outbreak of Swine Flu (H1N1), some religious leaders think otherwise.

Rev, Owusu Bempah, Oduro Gyebi (Eagle Prophet), Nana Kwaku Bonsam have revealed that the deaths happening in Kumasi Academy School are as a result of works of ‘evil spirits’.

A new update to support the religious leaders claims has been revealed.

Godwin Adu Boahen, a student of KUMACA in an interview with Ghanaweb has revealed, the deaths of his colleagues were predicted by a pastor a few months ago.

He said the pastor speaking during one of the regular church revivals organized for the students, said 10 students were going to die before the celebration of 60th Anniversary of the School.

“We held a 3 days revival in the school and one of the invited Pastors revealed that 10 students will die before the celebration of our 60th Anniversary. The pastor led the school to pray to prevent the deaths, however, after a month the symptoms started showing”, he said.

Juju claims

According to Nana Kwaku Bonsam, a fetish priest, the recent deaths were being caused by ‘black magic’ or ‘juju’ planted in the school.

He added the juju was planted in the school, to bring recognition and prestige to the institution some years ago.

“Something was planted in the school so he should not waste time in setting up committees to look into the death that is obviously spiritual and requires spiritual means in dealing with the issue,” he said.

An anonymous old staff of the Kumasi Academy (KUMACA) has also revealed that some evil head teachers and teachers of the school have been using virgin students’ blood for ‘juju’.

According to him, the heads and teachers who are due for transfer to other schools have spiritually fortified themselves with powers which require virgins blood hence the killing of first-year students majority of whom are virgins.

Ministry of health warning

The Ghana Health Service in a statement signed by the Deputy Director of Public Health Dr O.K. Afreh has warned of an outbreak of Swine Flu or H1N1 in the country.

It gave sudden onset of fever, chills, headache, general weakness, cough or a sore throat and sometimes gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, and diarrhoea as some of the symptoms the public should look out for.

The outbreak has claimed about 13 lives within the past 7 months with more than forty students affected.
