150,000 potentially impacted by Kansas cybersecurity breach
Social security numbers, financial and passport information could have been leaked
KANSAS CITY, Kan. (KCTV) - Experts investigate an October 12th information leak as people who’ve dealt with the Kansas courts are at risk of shared personal information.
Chief Justice Marla Luckert apologized on behalf of the Kansas Supreme Court.
“We’re sorry anyone was personally impacted by the actions of the criminals who attacked our court computer systems. The judicial branch respects the privacy of information given to us, and it’s a high priority throughout the court system to keep that information secure.”
Affected residents were sent a notification letter if an address was available. No notifications were sent by text, call or email.
Since the incident, the Kansas Office of Judicial Administration has increased security measures.
People impacted by the cybersecurity leak are asked to call 1-888-861-6382 or visit this information webpage.
