Evergy reports thousands without power as storms hit Kansas and Missouri

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - As severe storms rolled through Kansas and Missouri Monday evening and into Tuesday morning, Evergy reported thousands of customers are without power.

Several severe thunderstorm warnings hit the Kansas City metro area late Monday evening. Throughout the entire region, Evergy reported nearly 19,000 customers without power at 11:45 p.m. Monday.

In the Kansas City metro area, that number exceeded 10,000 customers without power shortly after 11 p.m.

Evergy said shortly before midnight there were 220 active outages for customers.
