PITTSBURG, Kan. — A southeast Kansas sheriff’s office is asking for help in locating a man accused of shooting someone in Pittsburg over the weekend.

Staff at Ascension Via Christi reported a gunshot wound victim in their ER around 2:00 a.m. Sunday, according to the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office. The victim, Keith Mitchell, 34, of Pittsburg, is expected to survive his injuries.

Authorities said the shooting happened on the roadway south of the Meadowbrook Mall, along the 1000 block of S 220th St. and add that preliminary investigations indicate the suspect was known by the victim.

That suspect, Steven Taylor Jr., 34, of Pittsburg is wanted by Crawford County Sheriff’s Office. He was last seen driving a blue/gray 2015 Jeep Compass with Kansas license plate 269SCR. The back glass of the vehicle is broken out, the sheriff’s office said. It was last seen leaving the Meadowbrook Mall westbound from Broadway St. on Centennial Drive.
