The No. 2 University of Hawaii water polo team placed five players on the All-Big West Conference team and also took home a pair of top honors on Friday.

The Rainbow Wahine (22-3) went 7-0 in Big West play and swept the conference tournament last week.

Retiring head coach Maureen Cole was named the Big West Coach of the Year for the fifth time in her career, while sophomore Bia Mantellato Dias was named the conference’s Player of the Year.

Mantellato Dias, Alba Bonamusa Boix, Bernadette Doyle and Daisy Logtens were named to the conference first team, while Lot Stertefeld was named to the second team.

Hawaii opens the NCAA Tournament on May 10 against Princeton at 1 p.m. HST in Berkeley, Calif.

Additionally, Lucia Gomez de la Puente was named All-Big West Honorable Mention, while Logtens was named to the All-Freshman team.
